Time after time you will get tested on many things you believe in. For instants EVERY BODY IS A RAPPER, and if you believe in yourself as a rapper, you will definetly be tested. Right now there is a lot of "RINGTONE" rappers? What the hell is that, lol, basically music with no real substance.
I am also Co-Owner of Boardroom Studio. I sit in and engineer alot of sessions and I hear a huge variety of artist. What I like to hear is, DELIVERY, you must be able to BRING IT, make people and yourself believe what you are saying, FIRST AND FOREMOST. I like to hear metaphors, i like you to make me think, SUBSTANCE, talk about more then your cars, your jewels, how you will fuck a nigga up, I mean I like to hear that stuff sometimes but not all the time from the same person. The whole album about Cars and Jewels and you'll fuck a nigga up, you mind as well put your album title as I'll fuck a nigga up, cuz i got cars and jewels.LMAO,
Basically, what i'm saying is add some substance and switch it out every now and then.
Alot of people are getting on right now, but at the same time they will not last. There is to many artist out there that has over 5 albums and still going, if they have what it takes i dont see why you can get your hustle on, but the key is HUSTLE FOR LONGEVITY NOT FOR THE MOMENT.
